I thought two more things were striking in the movie, one was the Nobel Peace Prize winner who said that the history of humans was the history of war. It's so true, if I look into my history book all the notes are on war, the causes of war or the results of war. Another speaker was a signer of an anti-nuclear weapon pact signed when the bombs were first dropped, he said that a nuclear war between major nuclear powers could easily wipe out civilization if not all life on earth. This is a really scary thought to have while reading about tensions rising in countries with nuclear weapons or the ability to create nuclear weapons. The anti-nuclear weapons speaker summed up his thoughts nicely by saying the only way to end the treat of nuclear disaster is by getting rid of the weapons because as long as they are around, they can be used.
Another thing was the Nobel Prize winner for chemistry who said that science education will reduce the darkness. This too is true because knowledge of any kind reduces ignorance in the world. Science is almost a universal language and it brings people of all cultures and backgrounds together.
Even though the movie highlights humanity's short comings, the ending shows that we need to work together to find solutions to our problems and is in a way pretty hopeful.
