Nobelity

We're watching this movie called Nobelity in LEAP class. I'm enjoying this movie immensely because it really speaks tomes to me. The film is about a man's journey to learn about the world's problems through interviews with Nobel Prize winners.

There are several things in the film that I would say strike me, one of them is the general consensus for the future of our world. None of the Nobel Prize winners have said that humanity is on the right track. It seems like humanity is doing quite the opposite in fact. In the field of energy, we are constantly going to need more and more energy but as we all know our supply of fossil fuel is dwindling. Where are we going to get this new energy and where are these power plants going to come from?

In the medical sector, the fact that on 9/11 more people died of AIDS than did in the twin towers is pretty shocking. I know that that piece of information was given for the shock value but it really makes you wonder why we as a nation don't put more money into medical help in developing nations. Actually the film provides the answer to that too. It's not like we can't afford it, we (Americans) are spending that money on the countries that are our friends rather than those in need. It makes you wonder how the next great epidemic will play out, we have the technology to combat disease in our hands but its up to us to distribute it to those in need.

I'm watching the rest of the movie today, let's see all the other ways humanity can change the world.
